ABOUT ME

Joyce Kondo

I acquired my diploma in multimedia design and production at City Varsity School of Media and Creative Arts in Cape Town. I did freelance gigs in Cape Town and Windhoek before landing my first internship at Turipamwe Design, a multidisciplinary Namibian design studio, where I worked on creative projects.

In early 2019, I started interning at The Namibian. I worked on advertisements before moving into the multimedia team and later the Investigative Unit, where I produced video content, graphics, and supported the unit’s website. I eventually acted as a consultant and lead designer in the Investigative Unit’s website development process, serving as the project communicator between the developers and the newsroom.

Currently, I work as a designer on the TVET Skills for Renewable Energy & Green Hydrogen initiative in Namibia, creating visual communication materials that help translate national skills-gap research into accessible, engaging content.

I am motivated by the need for inclusivity and by mobilizing creative spaces that allow creatives to thrive at their optimal level. I tend to blur the lines between art and functional design because I use my art as a form of communication — and I would rather not be restricted while doing so.

However, I do understand that design is meant to be understood, and art is meant to be felt.

Thanks for submitting!
